Colonel (Ret.) Miri Eisin is a senior fellow at the International Institute for Counterterrorism (ICT) at Reichman University in Herzliya, Israel. Eisin has a deep background in the intelligence, security, and diplomacy worlds and is a frequent commentator on these issues in global media. Her media appearances include CNN, FOX News, BBC, MSNBC, and extensive quotes in the NY Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and many more.
During her 20 years in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Eisin served in a variety of positions in Israeli military intelligence, including intelligence officer of a regional border brigade, head of the Syria Department in the Northern Command, intelligence officer of the Israeli Airborne Division, and assistant to the Director of Military Intelligence. As a full colonel, she served as Deputy Head of the Combat Intelligence Corps. In all her positions, she was the first woman to serve in such capacities.
After leaving the military, Eisin served as the Israeli government spokesperson during the Second Lebanon War in 2006, and as international press secretary to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, including during the Annapolis Conference in November 2007.
Following her retirement from official duties, Eisin has continued to lecture at Reichman University, Tel Aviv University, and worldwide. She serves on numerous boards, including as a founding member of the Deborah Forum, Women in National Security; Cyberwell, combating online antisemitism; Alma, a research center in the Galilee; and as Chair of the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel.
