Prof. Alexander Meyer, MD, is a leading physician-scientist specializing in cardiovascular medicine, data science, and artificial intelligence. He is the Charité Professor for Clinical AI and Data Science at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and serves as Chief Medical Information Officer at the German Heart Center of the Charité (DHZC), where he oversees digital innovation in patient care. He also leads a BIFOLD research group and DHZC’s Clinical Data Science Group and is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon.
Before transitioning to medicine, Prof. Meyer worked as a computer scientist and software developer, integrating technical expertise with clinical practice. In 2016, he joined the Berlin Institute of Health’s (BIH) Clinician Scientist Program and later participated in the Digital Health Accelerator (2018–2020). During this time, he founded x-cardiac GmbH, a digital health company developing real-time biomarkers for postoperative risk stratification.
As a principal investigator in major research initiatives, Prof. Meyer focuses on applying data science and AI to enhance clinical decision-making and patient outcomes, particularly in cardiovascular care.
