President and Patent Attorney, The Luzzatto Group, Israel
Kfir Luzzatto is the President of The Luzzatto Group and the fourth generation of his family to work in intellectual property. The firm he leads was founded by his great-grandfather in Milan, Italy, in 1869, and moved to Israel more than 50 years ago.
Luzzatto has vast experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in different fields, but today he primarily focuses on IP litigation, as well as overseeing complex portfolios requiring sophisticated strategy planning. His multi-disciplinary experience ranges from pharmaceuticals and life science, from software and defense. His extensive experience in litigation allows him a unique perspective on the development of strong IP protection for start-ups and multinational companies alike.
Luzzatto holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering. He is renowned for his litigation work on major products such as PROZAC and VIAGRA, and less well-known yet important projects in the life science, defense, and software fields. Luzzatto is a recipient of the Landau Award for Research, the inventor of patented inventions, the author of many articles on intellectual property, and a member of multiple professional organizations in the field of intellectual property. His book “The World of Patents,” was published in Hebrew by Globes Press in 2003, and his acclaimed second book, “Fun with Patents,” was released in early 2016 and is available online.
