General Manager, UMC Europe
Oliver Hsieh has been in UMC for 20 years since 1999 and he is currently the General Manager of UMC BV, in charge of Europe including the EMEA region foundry business activities.
Started as a Customer Engineering Account Manager, Oliver dealt with one of the top revenue streams of UMC from its customers. Following 4 years later in 2003, he moved onto a Business Sales Manager in the Asian Business BU to work with fabless companies. It provided Oliver with knowledgeable experience and an in-depth understanding of the core aspects to build, refine and maintain the relationships within the Foundry business ecosystem. In 2005, Oliver became the department head of the Consumer Business Line in the Division
Oliver moved to UMC Europe in 2007 to start a new career and successfully created business with a key customer, bringing a significant growth in revenue quintuple (5) the amount within 4 years. In 2012, he was promoted as the Business Director and 3 years following, the General Manager.
Prior joining UMC , Oliver was a process module engineer in Macronix, a non-volatile memory manufacturing IDM company. Thereafter, he joined Therma-Wave ( a company providing semiconductor process manufacturing metrology equipment - later acquired by KLA-Tencor ) as a Field Application Engineer and promoted as a regional manager to build Engineering Serive teams to support customers from Taiwan ,China and South- Eastern Asian countries.
Oliver holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in CYU and undertook a MBA program course in NCTU in 1997.
