Dr. Chia Chien Wei is a seasoned practitioner in human factors, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, with a career spanning military, academia, and industry. His Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida focused on applied AI and agentic AI, pioneering autonomous learning models nearly 30 years ago.
Currently serving as the Chief of Staff and Program Director at CyberSG R&D Program Office, NTU, Dr. Chia plays an active role in advancing cybersecurity research and innovation. His extensive experience includes leading the Commander of RSAF Air Defence Group, SAF Battle Laboratory, SAF Cyber Security Ops Hub and serving as Director of Capability Development for Cyber Defence at Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, where he contributed and gained ground experience on cybersecurity operations etc. As an adjunct associate professor at NUS, he has also been instrumental in educating professionals on what he terms Human Factors 3.0 based on Sociocultural and Historical Theory.
Beyond his operational and academic contributions, Dr. Chia has been at the forefront of AI-driven security solutions through leadership roles in various contexts. He holds a granted patent designed to unlock human potential through digital trust frameworks. His research in the practice of human factors, decision-making in cyber defence, and AI applications in security reflect his understanding of both the technical and human dimensions of not only cybersecurity but in other adversarial contexts such as the conventional military and business.
